Dr. Stanley J Mathew | MD

Stanley Mathew, MD is an exceptional pain medicine specialist and physiatrist. He provides comprehensive pain management services at American Rehabilitation Medicine (ARM) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Dubuque, Iowa, for patients suffering from chronic pain conditions, particularly those affecting the back, neck, joints, and migraines. Additionally, he collaborates with family nurse practitioners to ensure holistic care for his patients.

A native of New York, Stanley Mathew, MD served for a decade as the medical director of St. Luke’s Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He began his medical journey at the Medical University of Lublin in Poland and completed an internship at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center's Department of Internal Medicine in New York City in 2006. He then progressed to New York Medical College in Valhalla for his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation, culminating in his role as chief resident in his final year.

Stanley Mathew, MD is board certified by the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the American Board of Disability Analysts, and the American Board of Pain Medicine. His interests span pain management, regenerative medicine, spinal and musculoskeletal medicine, spasticity management, electrodiagnostics, and both pre and post-operative care for orthopedic and neurosurgical patients.

In his own words, Stanley Mathew, MD asserts, "Humans are too complex to relegate diagnosis and treatment solely to ‘processes.’ Great physicians always apply an artist’s sensibility. Diagnosis requires an artist’s eye, a writer’s ear for dialogue, and a sense of composition."
